Installing Windows 10 ADK for MDT

In this guide I will talk you through the installation of Windows 10 ADK build 1607 for use within a Microsoft Deployment Toolkit Build Environment.

Before I begin, if you haven't done so already please download the Microsoft Windows 10 ADK for Build 1607 at: (Opens New Window)

  1. Select your download and installation location, in my case I have selected to install the ADK on my 'D' drive.

  2. Decide if you would like to participate in the customer experience program.

  3. Read the Microsoft Service Agreement Terms and if you agree select Accept.

  4. On the next screen we need to select the components required for Microsoft Deployment Toolkit. These are;
    a) Deployment Tools
    b) Windows Preinstallation Environment (Windows PE)
    c) Imaging and Configuration Designer (ICD)
    d) Configuration Designer
    e) User State Migration Tool (USMT)
    f) Microsoft SQL Server 2012 Express - Optional Component but is required to use the Database features of MDT.

    Once you have selected the Components that are required click on the Install button and the installation will begin.

  5. Once the installation is completed click on Close.

 Now that you have installed the Windows 10 ADK you are ready to install Microsoft Deployment Toolkit.
